Commercial Window Film Solutions

Your office is your second home, modern offices are often large open areas of glass and you are subject to heat loss and gain, glare, direct sunlight, harmful UV rays, your glass also will probably be un-protected against accidental breakage, malicious damage and explosions. For you to ensure a comfortable and safe working environment for you and your team members. Application of one of our window films can make your working experience even more enjoyable through these added benefits:

Reduction of Interior Fading – Many people are still unaware that over time the sun's UV rays cause damage to the interior of your office to fabrics, clothing, sofas, desks, carpets, wooden floors, furniture and even artwork. Fortunately, window film blocks up to 99% of these harmful UV rays to help protect your interior furnishings as well as your skin.

Temperature Control – Glass is one of the main contributing factors to a room's temperature, both heat and cold enter via glass. The sun’s solar properties can cause any room to become overheated, or very cold in the winter.  Normally you turn up the air conditioning / heating to combat the problem - The down side to this is your electricity & gas bills and the Co2 emissions caused, but now with the use of our range of window films, you can control the temperature by heat gain (80%) and loss (55%) at your workplace, you see the benefits all year round. This will not only help to reduce your energy costs but it will allow for a more comfortable living environment.

Increase Privacy – Windows are our view the outside world, but sometimes they do not provide a lot of privacy. We offer a range of window films from mirrored, clear to colour shades to provide added privacy to your workplace while still allowing excellent external vision, alternatively our frosted and etched glass range is a popular choice, available with a range of designs or personalised.

Safety & Security – Window films can re-enforce glass around 300% this protects you from flying glass or having to clean-up broken shards of glass, they also help deter break-ins by the film holding the glass in-place on impact, this also applies to explosions and accidental breakage. The films are scratch resistant but not scratch-proof.

Decorative Window Film
Clear glass is a blank canvas for our film. Manifestation film ensures that full height glass in walls, partitions and doors are identifiable and conform to current regulations. Alternatively, the glass can be decorated as branding, advertising or adornment at a fraction of the cost of sandblasted glass. The film can also be removed and new designs applied.

Relevant regulations

It is a legal requirement to have all relevant existing glazing made impact-safe and be so marked.

In addition the Building Regulations BS 6262 Part 4, Safety, Human Impact states that:

  • Every window or glazed area in a wall, partition, door, or gate shall be of safety material or be protected against breakage -ie, it should not break on impact or should break safely.

  • Safety glazing material must meet BS 6206 Class B in doors and side panels over 900mm wide, and Class C in those less than 900mm wide. Low level glazing must meet a minimum of BS 6206 Class C.

  • This entails the use of laminated, toughened or safety-wired glass, or plastic glazing sheet that meet BS 6206, or glass with plastic film applied so that the pane of glass with the film meets BS 6206 Class A or B.

  • Existing glazing must also be appropriately marked or featured so as to make it apparent and thus avoid the risk of collision because it is not properly visible.

  • In particular, large uninterrupted areas of glazing where people might reasonably think they can walk straight through.

Which glazing is affected?

'Critical locations' is the term given to describe of internal and external walls, doors and partitioning which are of primary concern in terms of glazing safety. These areas are depicted here and described in the two categories below:

Critical locations are:

Between the finished floor level and 1500mm (shoulder height) above that level in doors, and in side panels which fall within 300mm of either edge of the door.

Between the finished floor level and 800mm (waist height) above that level in the case of walls, partitions and windows.

It is important to note that any part of a glass pane affected must meet the requirements in its entirety and not just in the relevant section.
